ARTHUR
P. BAGBY 6, (ALEXANDER [REV] 5, JAMES M. 4, JOHN ARTHUR 3, JOHN 2, JAMES 1) was born about 1829 in Louisa County, Virginia, and died Unknown in Possibly Wood County, Texas. He married (1) ELIZABETH FOUNTAIN TURNER October 03, 1849 in Louisa County, Virginia, daughter of THOMAS TURNER and NANCY HUNTER. She was born May 15, 1832 in Louisa County, Virginia, and died Abt. 1873 in Van Zandt County, Texas. He married (2) MARTHA "MATTIE" JANE HATTON April 12, 1879 in Smith County, Texas, daughter of THOMAS HATTON and ELIZABETH LAKE. She was born July 18, 1839 in Hamilton, Harris, Georgia, and died March 23, 1928 in Fort Worth, Texas [Tarrant County].
Sherri Schäefer Bagby Note:
We
have never seen the P. in Arthur P. Bagby's name spelled out on any
document. He is always recorded as Arthur P. Bagby or A.P. Bagby. We
believe he was most likely named for his Uncle, Arthur Pendleton Bagby
who was the Governor of Alabama, but we would like a source. If anyone
has any document that shows his middle name spelled out we would appreciate
your input.
We
also have no idea what became of him or any of his children, except
for Charlie who died in 1873 when his wife Elizabeth Turner [Bagby]
died and Benjamin Price Bagby, who was my husband's Great Grandfather.
Any input would be helpful.

Notes for
CAIUS RUTHVIN BAGBY:
Caius worked as a School Teacher, Constable, and Marshall and served
many in the area as Doctor for minor things. He was an excellent marksman
and would shoot quail and take them to Richmond to sell at market.
William
Joseph Bagby would recount the story about the Christmas Day in 1918
they received a message that his father Caius had taken ill. The roads
were nearly impassable from the weather, but the family went to Louisa
from Richmond. Robert Ruthvin, Sr. was six months at the time, but they
had to take him along.
Caius
was so ill by the time most of the family arrived that the only thing
he said, and his last words were "Whithersoever the carcass is
there will the eagles be gathered".
He
was quoting Matthew 24:28 "For wheresoever the carcase is, there
will the eagles be gathered together."
He
died on the 26th and was buried on William Joseph Bagby's twenty-fifth
birthday, December 28, 1918.
