He married (1) LELIA SMITH COCKE, the daughter of CHARLES COCKE and FRANCIS MINGEA on October 9, 1948 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Roanoke, Virginia. She was born August 29, 1915 in Roanoke, Virginia and died March 26, 1983. He married (2) CAROLYN VIRGINIA BRAY SMITH, the daughter of RALPH VERNON BRAY, JR. and ALVERNA JACOBSON on July 18, 1996. She was born August 23, 1928 in Kansas City, Missouri and died August 8, 2010 in Roanoke, Virginia

More About WILLIAM BOYLE BAGBEY, SR.: Military Service: The following is only a brief sketch of the distinguished military service of Commander William Boyle Bagbey, Sr. In time, I may have the opportunity to publish a more detailed account.

Served on two ships in the Navy during World War II.
Commanded an Organized Reserve Navy unit in the states after his return.
Was on recall for Korean War and service in USS Dortch as an Executive Officer.
Staff duty of Commander Operational Development Force in Norfolk, Virginia.
Served three years in Germany as Officer in Charge.
Navy Field Training Group.
MAAG Germany putting the German Navy back in commission.
Served two years in command of USS Keppler operating with USS WASP and looking for Russian subs in the Atlantic.
A tour with Commander in Chief Atlantic followed, which included the Cuban missile crisis when he was an operation officer in CINCLANT's War Room.
Chief Staff Officer of Destroyer Development Group TWO in Newport News, Virginia.
Final tour as Surface Warfare Officer on Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force in Norfolk, Virginia before retiring 1 JULY 1967.
Total military service was 26 years with 21 years of the 26 years on active duty.
